Day Training vs In-Home Private Dog Training: Which Option Is Right for Your Dog?
At Newman's Dog Training, we understand that no two dogs — or families — are the same. That’s why we offer two highly effective dog training options: Private In-Home Training and our Signature Day Training Program.
If you’re wondering which path will deliver the best results for your dog, this guide will help you make the right choice based on your goals, schedule, and level of involvement.
What Is Private In-Home Dog Training?
Our in-home training sessions are designed for dog owners who want to be fully involved in the process. One of our certified trainers comes to your home to coach both you and your dog in real-time. This hands-on approach allows your dog to learn where behaviors matter most — in the environment they live in every day.
Ideal for:
- Dog owners who want to learn alongside their dog
- Families who want to build consistency and structure at home
- Puppies and adult dogs working on household manners, crate training, or leash walking
Common training goals:
- Potty training and housebreaking
- Jumping, barking, or fear-based behaviors
- Basic obedience and leash manners
- Setting boundaries with guests or children
Level of owner involvement:
High. You’ll be practicing and reinforcing training between sessions.
What Is Day Training?
Our Day Training program is ideal for busy families who want fast, reliable results. Over the course of five weeks, our trainer works directly with your dog four times a week in your home. Each week, we meet with you to review progress and teach you how to maintain the skills your dog is learning.
This program offers the same personalized attention but shifts the day-to-day training workload to our team, giving your dog the repetition and structure they need to succeed — even when your schedule is packed.
Ideal for:
- Families who want a faster transformation with less daily involvement
- Dogs with reactivity or behavior issues needing focused work
- Households looking for professional results without group classes or boarding
Common training goals:
- Loose leash walking and reliable recall
- Reactivity to dogs, people, or distractions
- Crate training and calm home behavior
- Polishing manners in public spaces
Level of owner involvement:
Moderate. We do the foundational work; you support it with weekly guidance.
Which Training Program Is Best for You?
Choosing between day training and private in-home training comes down to your goals, your availability, and how involved you want to be in the daily training process.
Both programs are built on positive reinforcement, customized to your dog’s needs, and delivered by certified professionals with years of experience. Whether you're raising a new puppy, managing leash reactivity, or just want a well-mannered companion, we’ll help you reach your goals — and create lasting results.
We proudly offer dog training services in both Kansas City and Northwest Arkansas, including Bentonville, Fayetteville, and surrounding areas.
